Infinity Pool

Have you ever seen these pools that seem to reach the sky and connect with the ocean? These pools that seem to extend all the way to the horizon and the colorful sunset feels as though it is setting within the pool itself? These beautiful, artful pools are called Infinity Pools because they are made in such a way that they trigger the visual impression to be extending endlessly, towards infinity!

These Infinity pools are also often called the negative edge pool or vanishing edge pool due to their non-apparent edge towards the end of the pool. This non apparent, infinite edge of the pool is very eye-catching and striking, it is therefore necessary to decorate the backdrop with a beautiful background and complete this depiction of extravagance.

The infinite end of these gorgeous pools is therefore often placed in the direction of the ocean or sea; this way, it really gives the impression of space, grandeur and infinity, as if you are joining in on the larger open waters. Beautiful gardens and landscape is also another option as a background for the infinity edge pools.
Infinity Pools started becoming a fad in the nineties, and many luxury hotels had them installed on their roofs with a view to the ocean….

An infinity pool is a top advertisement to any hotel. Many beach resorts started implementing them and it was an immediate success; they are very romantic, pleasing to the eye, and give swimmers the impression of freedom! I sometimes feel while swimming in an infinity pool that I am swimming in the clouds!

Infinity pools are basically in-ground swimming pools but the trick lays in the infinity edge. Tactfully hidden underneath the infinity edge, there lies a mini pool that is collecting the water which is being spilled from the pool edge and re-circulating it back to the pool. In this lower collection basin the filtration system is usually placed. There is usually another, upper supply of water, to compensate for evaporation and keep the water flowing over the edge.

Building the collection Basin is very tricky, it has to withhold the pool water capacity as well as rainfall, it has to be of a specific depth and width, etc…The designers and contractors have to therefore be very talented. It must be noted that Infinity Pools are highly costly! The Infinity pool can take a variety of shapes, depths and sizes.

Infinity pools have recently been used as a private pool as well, especially in high priced, luxurious villas. It definitely adds to the beauty of any panorama, an infinity pool is a scream for luxurious, sophisticated and modern architecture.
